If my income was coming from my own websites and I was traveling on that money, would that count for getting a work visa in any countries? There are a few places I'd like to stay for extended periods, and if my job isn't based in the country in question, I'm just wondering if it would count, as I would only be bringing money into the economy of that country.

Hmmm, good question. I'm in a scenario where I own a group of websites, but also work another one, but 90% of my work is virtual, so I don't usually have any specific place I *need* to be. I've been stretching my legs gradually and working farther and farther away (country by country).
Let me know what answers you hear. I know that most countries give you preferential treament for *investment*. Since an online business doesn't create jobs there or employee people there, it seems they would have a had time looking at you as an asset.
Perhaps just a refelction that the politicians/paperwork hasn't caught up with the emerging reality of virtual workers. -
